Fourfold Team event at Social Cuisine
On 24 March 2026, Fourfold organised a volunteering day for its team and for colleagues at the Thomas Schmidheiny Family Office. Twenty-six participants gathered for a purposeful afternoon of cooking at the FOGO Areal in Zurich-Altstetten, hosted by Fourfold partner Social Cuisine.
Social Cuisine, a non‑profit association, is a community‑based social gastronomy initiative that promotes a fairer, more sustainable food system by rescuing surplus food (especially fruits and vegetables from wholesale markets), cooking and sharing meals together, and bringing together people from different social and cultural backgrounds, including refugees and local residents.
After an introduction to the mission and people behind Social Cuisine, and equipped with aprons and knives, the team worked side-by-side under the guidance of chefs to prepare more than 120 warm meals, and in the process saving 200kg of surplus produce. The meals were then donated to Incontro, serving people living in acute hardship, particularly in Zurich’s Langstrasse district.
Following the cooking session, the team gathered for an exchange led by Patrick Honauer, founder of Social Cuisine and a well-regarded pioneer of social and ecological gastronomy in Switzerland. Patrick shared further insights into the history and vision of the FOGO Areal, as well as the approach of using gastronomy as a tool for social inclusion and responsible consumption. The event concluded with a relaxed vegetarian team dinner prepared by the Social Cuisine chefs, creating space for conversation, reflection, and connection.
Thank you to all our colleagues for the full participation and support.
