Rebuilding the water system in Cevio and Lavizzara: One year later
In June 2024, the Ticino region was struck by devastating landslides that left deep scars in the villages of Cevio and Lavizzara, nestled in Val Bavona and Val Lavizzara. The impact of the disaster is still visible today.
At the height of the emergency, and in close coordination with local authorities, Fourfold stepped in to support the reconstruction of vital water distribution systems. This effort brought fast and much-needed relief to residents who had been isolated and deprived of water and electricity for several days.
One year later, the Fourfold team returned to Cevio and Lavizzara to witness first-hand the progress made thanks to the provisional and newly-installed water infrastructure.
During the visit, the team met with representatives from the Comune and frontline workers, walking through the affected areas in Fontana. They were guided by the powerful stories and memories shared by the local community.
Although broader reconstruction efforts are still underway, Fourfold’s early involvement proved instrumental in laying the groundwork for recovery. By stepping in during the initial phase, a swift response was enabled.
