Regenerating Oceans and Coastal Livelihoods: Fourfold Annual Report 2025
2025 was a year of meaningful progress, learning, and strengthened partnerships for Fourfold. In our latest Annual Report, we illustrate how science, community knowledge, and entrepreneurship can converge to deliver impactful and sustainable solutions. This edition focuses on the Blue Economy, underscoring the importance of stewarding ocean and water resources while enabling dignified livelihoods for communities that depend on fisheries and marine-based economies.
Our 2025 focus is brought to life through interviews with key partners:
- Dr. Ulrike Pfreundt, ocean scientist and co-founder of rrreefs, shares how her passion for coral ecosystems evolved into a scalable solution for reef restoration.
- Grizelda La Cock, Head of Marketplace Operations at Abalobi, offers insights into how technology, traceability, and community-led design are reshaping South Africa’s small-scale fisheries.
This year also marked an important moment of self-reflection for Fourfold. Five years after the start of our journey, the team and Board came together to refine our scope and goals, shaping a renewed strategy to guide our work in the years ahead. This report presents the outcomes of that process, alongside the impact achieved to date, which lay the foundation for our next chapter.
We extend our sincere thanks to all Fourfold partners for their insights, collaboration, and the impact they continue to drive.

Through the design and deployment of 3D-printed, modular terracotta structures, they are pioneering innovative approaches to reef regeneration. Cover image: Marc Zumbach for Accor).
